Marjorie Phillips earned her Associates Degree in Business from Berkeley, NYC and later went on to the Parsons School of Design, where she majored in Interior Design. She has spent most of her career as a decorator/designer and has worked for more than fifteen (15) years on residential projects such as: Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman (Colorado & Florida residences); Peggy & Mickey Drexler, CEO J. Crew (San Francisco residence); Ronald Perelman, CEO Revlon (New York City residence); Deandre Douglas (Unitarian Church office space); Conrad Black , Leslie Wexner, CEO The Limited, Victoria’s Secret and Henri Bendel (New York City & Albany, Ohio residences).
Marjorie is currently employed at the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.), NYC, where she is an Executive Associate with Executive Education. The Center for Executive Education brings together the best minds in business, academia and industry to provide a select group of senior executives with a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities confronting the industry today.
Marjorie has been a member of the Abyssinian Baptist Church since 1990; and has served on the Board of Christian Social Concern under the tutelage of Rosalie Long, shortly after joining the church. She has been actively involved in the Blue Nile Passage Ministry for eight (8) years, serving as the Mentor Coordinator & Assistant Program Director (Daughters of the Blue Nile Passage). No role has been more fulfilling, rewarding or important for Marjorie than giving her service to such a worthwhile ministry.
Marjorie is the proud and devoted mother of one (1) son, Javon, who successfully ‘passed through’ Blue Nile in 2001. Javon is currently a senior at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia majoring in finance. Marjorie is a descendant of the “Love” Family of Georgia, a long line of proud people of faith and courage. She loves to be with her family and enjoys travel, design, church fellowship, community, civic and social functions.
