Alexandria E. Latimer was born in Harlem, NY where she still resides. It was there that she was introduced to the Blue Nile Rites of Passage program in 1999. She passed through, at the young age of 12, in the spring of 2000.
On May 17, 2009, she will be graduating with high honors completing her bachelor’s degree. Alexandria still maintains a nurturing relationship with her mentor Veanda A. Martin who plays an active role in all her endeavors. The Blue Nile has helped her become the strong, positive, motivated, and grounded person that she is today. She has been quoted to say:
"Aside from my personal goals and dreams, the Blue Nile is one of the reasons I continue to strive high and dream big. I have so many people that took me under their wing and took an active interest in me that I cannot afford to do anything but succeed; there are too many people's beliefs in me and hopes for me on the line if I did. That is one of the things that keeps me going; knowing that I've built relationships in the Blue Nile for a lifetime and gained a support system to use as my foundation no matter where I am or where I go, it is a secure and comforting feeling.”--- Alexandria
