Mentoring

Mentoring is a core component in the development of our youth. Each young sister and brother is attentively matched with a pre-screened and trained adult female or male mentor. Mentors are advisors, friends and trusted confidants. Our mentors pledge to become mentors not just for the duration of the program but FOR LIFE. Our mentors are asked to not only guide, direct and advise their mentees but to use the Dogon (West African) concept of “inviting the genius out of their mentee” and helping them find their purpose in life, which is the most important gift, we believe, a mentor can give.
